Sunfish Challenge Volunteers!! Sunfish Challenge Volunteers!!
We are having a
Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday, Oct. 24th.
The party is to show appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication shown by the enormous cadre of volunteers. Most of the volunteers would rather sail in the Sunfish Challenge instead of working, but they do it so that folks like the Princess Ethan Rule Team, and the Richmond contingent, can come and enjoy the day on the water.
Thanks again for another bang up job in making the Hampton Roads Sunfish Challenge & Dinghy Distance Race, the grass roots dinghy sailing event that it has become.
Welcome to the 7th running of the Hampton Roads Sunfish Challenge & Dinghy Distance Race! This years Challenge will be held on Saturday,September 19.
We welcome on the start line, all dinghies 22 feet or smaller, to come and race from Willoughby Spit, around Middle Ground Lighthouse, and back to Willoughby.
This tour of the historic Hampton Roads harbor is approximately 11 miles in length, as the crow flies. You will pass by Norfolk Naval Base, worlds largest, and sail in the same waters as the historic battle of the Ironclads, the USS Monitor & USS Merrimac.
We have plenty of classes for all sailing skill levels, from racers to recreational sailors.
So take a look around the site, and register today, to come out and enjoy the day with us at this years Hampton Roads Sunfish Challenge & Dinghy Distance Race!
We are proud to have, for the 4th year consecutive year, Deltaville Yachting Center/ Chesapeake Yacht Sales, as our title sponsor. Lew & Onna Grimm, the owners of DYC/CYS, have long supported this grass roots sailing challenge. Please stop by and say, “thanks for the support”, when you’re in Deltaville!
